The coat of arms of the Markovci municipality is a heraldically regular coat of arms, meaning that the symbolism is appropriate and the colour combinations are suitable. It brings together everything that is true for good coats of arms:

The lion in the upper half of the coat of arms is of golden-yellow colour and refers to the parable of the lion accom-panying St. Marc, the patron of the lo-cal church. In the centre of the coat of arms there is a golden-yellow wheat ear with nine grains, symbolising the nine villages, where wheat is still sown. In the lower part of the coat of arms there is a korant mask of predominant-ly yellow (golden) colour, except the korant's tongue is red and the mask's face is white (heraldically silver). The author of the coat of arms is Martin Kos from Nova vas pri Markovcih.
